Taggy / Taggie Blanket Update – how to make a taggy blanket easily, even more secure and even snugglier – with Free Tutorial

My original taggy blanket tutorial post is one of my most popular so far. I’ve recently made a few more taggy blankets and realised I’d refined the way I made them to make them even more secure and snuggly, so thought I’d share these points with you here.

• If you’re using fleece for the backing, you should use anti-pill or no-pill fleece as it’s baby-friendly and won’t bobble.

• To prevent the ribbon loops fraying, either cut them with pinking shears, or cut a diagonal into the end.

• To fasten the ribbons super-securely, pin them to the RS of the main fabric and stitch around the edge with a ¼” seam, going back and forth over each of the ribbons each time too.
• Once these are secure, place the backing fabric onto the main fabric, RS together, and stitch around the edge again, just inside the previous seam, starting at one ribbon and working all the way round and finishing at the last ribbon and so leaving a 2-3″ gap for turning. By starting and ending on a ribbon, this ensures that every ribbon is sewn as securely as the next. 
• Once it’s turned the right way round, top stitch around the edge (which gives it a nice finish) and in this way, the ribbons will have been sewn at least five times.
