Love Cushion, Love Cushions!

You can never have too many cushions (although my husband might disagree!) ~ so I’ve made these two. To be fair to me, only one is to keep. The other is to be given away as a wedding present to friends getting married this summer. Although it doesn’t show up very well in the photo, I’ve embroidered their wedding date onto the cushion too, and the letters are made out of an off-cut of silk from a friend’s daughter’s wedding dress which I was given in return for some baby boots for said woman’s first grandchild (whew! Did you follow that?!), which I thought was highly appropriate (and of course, I love a bit of upcycling too). I’ve seen lots of various versions of these lovely LOVE cushions in shop windows and on other peoples’ crafty blogs so it seemed a perfect choice.
The tree cushion using tiny scraps of leftover fabric was originally going to be a bird cushion after I’d seen this one on pinterest a couple of years ago, but the colours I’d collected just shouted leaves at me, so I went for the tree. (All that sounds a bit aggressive what with all the shouting and ‘going for’ things, but I can assure you that neither trees nor feathered friends were injured in the making of this cushion). Also, my middle Littlest Person enjoyed helping me position all the leaves, so fun was had too. Win, win! I’ve purposefully left the leaves and branches scrappy, which is a decision I may later regret, and I’m so impatient, I hadn’t got round to sewing up the gap before taking the photo, so it looks gapey at the bottom, which it isn’t!
LOVE your leaves. PLEASE put a pinterest button on your blog, I would have pinned it immediately! and you make lots of pinnable things 🙂
Ooh that sounds technical!! 😀
Will give it a go.
Aww, you have made a LOVE cushion too!! LOVEly!!!
It’s a fabulous wedding present especially as you did yours with offcuts from the dress. Nice touch.

I have thought about making more for our bedroom. They are great aren’t they?
Ha! Almost identical! Great minds! I remember seeing your lovely ones with red (cord?) letters, but these colour combinations are pretty darned good too! 😀
Great minds indeed!! I love them soo much and I am just about to do some more in a very dark gery with hot pink letters so we will see how they come out.
Sounds lovely! And the reverse would work too I think.
This is absolutely adorable! Love it 🙂
Thank you!
